XNA to Replace Entire Runway

By: Kyle Leyenberger
Updated: April 19, 2012
Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport now plans to replace its entire runway rather than reusing the base.

A problem with the pavement resulted in cracking on XNA's main runway. Airport director Kelly Johnson says the airport originally planned to keep the base layer and just replace the top, but new estimates show it would be cheaper to start from scratch.

Johnson says passengers don't need to worry, an alternate runway is ready for use and the project shouldn't affect travel times.
