"Arkansas law sets a deadline of 30 days before an election to apply to register to vote," Martin said. "Since that deadline actually falls on Sunday, registrants have until Monday, April 23, to register."
The registration deadline applies to all voters, including military and overseas citizens, Martin said.
The preferential primary and nonpartisan judicial elections will be held May 22. Early voting begins May 7.
Arkansas voters will decide on numerous state and district races this year. Due to redistricting after the decennial census, all 100 state House and 35 state Senate seats are up for election. All four of Arkansas's U.S. House seats are also on the ballot. Voters will also select 16 judges, including one state Supreme Court justice.
The May election serves as the general election for judicial races. Judicial runoff elections will be held in November, rather than during the June 12 runoffs for the preferential primary elections.
