Target Say Bye Bye to Kindle
Target is ditching the Amazon Kindle line of e-readers. The retailer announced Wednesday it plans to phase out the products this Spring. Target is not saying why it's disappearing from shelves. Last year the company said the newly launched Kindle Fire was a Targets best selling item on black Friday.
Derby Draw
Grab your mint juleps and get ready, the field of 20 horses for Saturday's 138th Kentucky Derby was drawn Wednesday in Louisville, Kentucky.
All 20 thoroughbreds this year are colts.
Perry Studios Catches Fire
Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta caught fire Tuesday night. Flames damaged a portion of the multi-million dollar complex. Authorities say no one was injured and there's no word yet on what caused the blaze.
Junior Seau Dies at Age 43
Former NFL all-pro linebacker Junior Seau was found dead in his home in Oceanside California on Wednesday from a self inflicted gunshot wound. Seau began his career as a standout linebacker at USC before going to the San Diego Chargers, leading them to the Super Bowl following the 1994 season. Seau stayed with the Chargers until 2003 then went on to play with the Miami Dolphins and New England Patriots before retiring after the 2009 season. Seau was 43 years old.
Tanning Bed Mom
A New Jersey mom is accused of putting her six year old daughter in a tanning bed. On Wednesday, Patricia Krentcil pleaded not guilty to a child endangerment charge. State law prohibits anyone under the age of 14 from using tanning salons. The issue arose when the child's elementary school noticed her sunburn and notified authorities, after the child said she'd been tanning with mommy. Krentcil maintains her daughter got burned while she was outside on a recent warm day.She will be allowed to maintain custody of her child during the proceedings.
