Perry Webb, President/CEO of the Springdale Chamber of Commerce, says he believes there`s a 50/50 chance the Wranglers may never play a game in Springdale because of ongoing lease negotiations with the city council. But some council members see it differently.
Council members presented a number of contract revisions at Tuesday night`s council meeting-- council member Mike Overton says he feels the council made very reasonable changes to the lease.
But Webb says the council went a little overboard with their revisions.
"Those that are making the loudest racket on our city council either have political ambitions or have been long-stated opponents of this process. Is the city council trying to derail what the public wants? I think so."
"I don`t believe the city council is at all trying to derail what the public wants. What the council is trying to do is work out the best possible arrangement for the taxpayers," Overton said.
He says the city council has not received a formal response from the Wranglers on their revised lease agreement, and much of the revisions could have been avoided if council members were included in negotiations from the beginning.
