Special Meeting With Wranglers

By:
Updated: April 17, 2007
Mayor Jerre Van Hoose has called for a special meeting tuesday night to try and resolve some of the issues surrounding the proposed Wrangler`s lease. At the mayor`s request, council members will meet again to try and officially seal-the-deal with the Wranglers. Mayor Van Hoose was unavailable to comment friday, but Wyman Morgan who works with the city, told us over the phone they are running out of time if Springdale wants to play ball by 2008. Morgan says the city needs time to handle the bond issues, plus the option to buy the land where the stadium will be built expires at the end of October. He says Tuesday is essentially the city`s last hope to bring the Wranglers to Springdale. The announcement of this meeting comes after the Springdale Chamber of Commerce made statements Thursday saying there is a 50/50 chance the Wranglers deal could fall through.
