The Rogers Fire Department is getting ready for the possibility of a disaster.
According to Captain Dennis Thurman, the department has new equipment designed to help stabilize a collapsing building whether it is caused by a fire, a collision from a car, a bomb or anything else for that matter.
"This is just a huge leap forward for us to kind of say, we are all hazards prepared...It just helps us kind of do our job more efficiently, and obviously in this business, efficiency means lives saved."
Thurman also says Rogers is one of the only departments in the entire state that has this new type of stabilizing gear.
