Fayetteville Police stepped up traffic stops on Thursday as part of an effort to reduce crashes and injuries.

Extra patrol cars were out on the College and Joyce intersection.  These marked and unmarked cars were looking for the following violations:

     Following too close

     Failure to yield

Failure to signal turn or lane changes

     Improper right turn

     Disobeying traffic signals

According to police, these are the most common contributing factors to crashes in Fayetteville.
