A Box Office Bang and Demi Lovato Joins "X-Factor"

Smashing the Box Office
"The Avengers" smashed the second week earnings record, bringing in more than $100 million. It also hit $300 million in record time and has surpassed the $1 billion mark worldwide. Johnny Depp's "Dark Shadows," opened a distant second with just under $29 million.
Chris Bosh Injury
Chris Bosh's injury may mean bad things for the Miami Heat. Bosh left Sunday nights game with a lower abdominal strain. It's one of the trickiest injuries in basketball, sometimes knocking players out for a day or even weeks at a time. According to Heat coach Erik Spoelstra, Bosh is the most irreplaceable player on the team.
Fighting For Her Life
A Georgia grad student is fighting for her life after a flesh eating bacteria entered her body through a wound from a zip line accident. The wound required staples and when doctors closed her up the bacteria was left inside and began to cause a rare infection. Doctors were forced to remove one of her legs and part of her abdomen.
Florida Band Suspension
Florida A&M's famous marching 100 band will remain suspended through the 2012-2013 academic year. University president made the announcement today. The band has been off the field since the death of drum major Robert Champion who was beaten in a hazing ritual on a band bus. 13 people face charges in connection with the death and the bands long time director resigned last week.
"X-Factor" Signs New Judge
The "X-Factor" has officially found its replacements. According to TMZ, former Disney star Demi Lovato has signed on to be a judge for the singing competition alongside Britney Spears who made her announcement last week. They'll be joining show creator Simon Cowell and music executive LA Reid at the judge's table, replacing Paula and Nicole Scherzinger.
