Gentry Police Wrapping Up Initial Investigation of Reported Abuse

Updated: May 16, 2012
Gentry Police are wrapping up their initial investigation into reports of abuse involving a middle school employee.

According to Chief Keith Smith, the department is almost done conducting interviews and will be piecing the report together soon.

Chief Smith also said they will be handing that report over to the prosecutor, hopefully within the next week.

Smith said there have been several complaints from parents reporting abuse from one male employee at Gentry Middle School.

Several folks in the community named Blake Rhein as the employee involved. The school website identified him as a P.E. and Health teacher, as well as the boys soccer coach.

Police and Superintendent Randy Barrett will not confirm Rhein's involvement.

Barrett did say Rhein has been suspended, that he recommended Rhein's contract be terminated, and that he has 30 days to appeal that recommendation to the school board.

According to police, no charges have been filed in this case.
