Gas Prices Still An Issue In NWA

By:
Updated: April 17, 2007
Northern Arkansas now has the most with seven, in places like Mountain Home and Ash Flat which can be expected - since they`re off the beaten path. However, Northwest Arkansas isn`t far behind with four on the list. As for the others, two are in Waldron with two more in Northeast Arkansas. Even with those numbers dropping, we`re still way higher than the other cities surrounding us. Up in Springfield, prices range from 2.09 to 2.17. Russellville is at 2.17 while Tulsa is currently anywhere from 2.19 to 2.27. So compare that to here where it`s some 30 to 40 cents higher than Southern Missouri at 2.39 to 2.50. It comes as no surprise to drivers in northwest Arkansas that gas prices are high and we want to know why they are much higher than surrounding cities. We called state representatives from all over Northwest Arkansas today to see what they are doing, if anything, about the high gas prices. We got only two returned phone calls. One person who can also get some answers for you is attorney general and a candidate to be your next governor, Mike Beebe.
