The two finalists performed three different songs, one picked by Idol creator Simon Fuller, one of their choice, and one that will be their first single if they snag the top spot.
Jessica's single received mixed opinions from the judges, and fan favorite Colton Dixon weighed in.
"I think Jessica's last song was a good song and she has a great voice, but I don't think the two came together so I agree with the judges, but it's not anything against Jessica."
Joshua Ledet placed third in this season's competition, and shared his thoughts on Phillip's single.
"Phillip's song was incredible, it was so him. It was one of those songs you didn't think he would sing, then when he sang it, it totally put you in the mind frame of, this is who this guy is."
Both Jessica and Phillip gave great performances, but Heejun Han said it is about much more than that.
"At this point it's not really about who's better...I think it's about the fan base they have already and based on that, I think I'm going to win this whole thing."
While this competition began with thousands auditioning, once it came down to the final few, Jeremy Rosado made a prediction.
"You can ask all the contestants, from the day we made top 13...Jessica Sanchez and Phillip Phillips will make the final two."
And with many fans rooting for Jessica and many fans cheering on Phillip, DeAndre Brackensick said it will be a close race.
"I thought they were amazing. I love them all."
