After months of research and an intense application process, The University of Arkansas, was accepted into the World Trade Centers Association.
Called the Arkansas World Trade Center of Northwest Arkansas, it will try to strengthen international trade for the over 4-thousand manufacturers in the state.
Dennis Millard a senior international trade specialist said, "the exports from Arkansas makes up about 15 percent of the manufacturing in Arkansas."
The World Trade Center of Northwest Arkansas will connect to the global trade community in over 300 cities and 90 countries. Rogers Mayor Steve Womack said, "The world is getting smaller and this is just another example of how we can bring the interest across our globe together to serve the ongoing interest of the entrepreneurs of Northwest Arkansas."
Chancellor John White said while it will help the business community it will also serve as an educational tool. "We will have our students interning with them to learn more about international business."
The WTC of Northwest Arkansas plans to be up and running by the beginning of next year.
