Police Investigate Shooting After One Bullet Injures Three Men

Three men injured by one bullet are recovering from head wounds after a shooting in Rogers, and now police are trying to find out what happened.

Just before 4 am, Rogers police responded to a residence on West Sunset Street. Officers found Eric Yanez and Nicholas Watson at the home with head wounds from a gun shot.

Just minutes later, 21 year-old David Grajeda drove himself to Northwest Medical Center in Bentonville to be treated for a gunshot to the head.

Police say Grajeda was shot in the face during a house party at the home, which belongs to Yanez, but left before police arrived. The other men were injured by bullet fragments from the same shot.

Officers searched the home and found a .357 caliber handgun they believe to be involved in the shooting, as well as several marijuana plants growing inside.

"It's not any place we've been out to before, so the house involved has been pretty quiet," says Officer Keith Foster of the Rogers Police Department. "The three guys involved (have) no real criminal history."

Police say witnesses aren't cooperating, and they still aren't sure what led to the shooting, or who's responsible for the drugs.

"Not everyone is being completely forthcoming with exactly what's happening," Foster says. "We're kind of having a more difficult time piecing everything together than we would like."

John Cunningham lives near the home, and he walked out of his house on Memorial day to find a crime scene.

"It's absolutely crazy, I mean this is a really peaceful neighborhood," Cunningham says. "The whole area was caution taped off, there was a load of cops, some guy was in a haz-mat suit."

He isn't surprised witnesses aren't talking.

"I'm sure everyone involved is family and friends and everybody knows whoever it was that pulled the trigger," he says. "Nobody wants to incriminate a family member or a friend."

However, he hopes someone comes forward, so this kind of thing doesn't happen again.

"That could affect my child," he says. "She could be out in the yard playing the next time somebody pulls out a gun, and she could get shot herself."

Grajeda was transported to Springfield for further treatment.  His injuries are believed to be non-life threatening. Watson was treated and released, and Yanez is still in the hospital being treated for his injuries.
