Senators passed a bill to help trial court administrators.  The fund their salary comes from is coming up short so lawmakers passes a 60-day appropriation.

The Senate also passed a sex offender bill barring offenders from state pools and parks.

Representatives did pass one bill in the house that makes White County part of the state's rock'n'roll route on Highway 67.

Speaker Davy Carter says the time off will let lawmakers go home and meet with constituents.

However Cater expects things will really pick up in the next two weeks.

"I don't think this is anything unusual, the slowness of the first two weeks. Especially with the holiday we had Monday," Carter says.

Carter says lawmakers are talking about medicaid constantly and trying to decide how to fund the shortfall and whether to expand.

It all depends on state revenue and the department of health is coming up with new figures as we speak.
