In 2006 talks began, looking for options to expand Fayetteville High School, and in just 60 days students will be allowed to see a new part of their school.
Wednesday the school gave a sneak peek at the construction inside.
Fayetteville high school teacher Jonelle Lipscomb was on the tour she said, "It's unlike anything else I've seen at any other school anywhere."
"It's definitely worth the wait."
The new school is jam packed with cutting edge concepts, state of the art technologies, and a brand new basketball complex that is top notch.
Patty Plummer from the Fayetteville School District said, "When the students come in August, I think they are going to be floored by the athletic facilities that we've been able to provide."
While the Bulldogs will have a new hoops home, it wasn't out with the old, the floor from the former gymnasium now hangs on the wall of the new FHS cafeteria.
Now the awe and amazement wasn't only reserved for sports. The building will be home to a new band, orchestra, choir, and fine arts room, but it may have been the new auditorium that was the most impressive.
School Board Vice President, Tim Hudson said, "Wow is the word I kept hearing throughout the walking tour."
"Every time you turn another corner there's another element or feature that we know is going to do just incredible things for our students and our teachers."
The over-riding theme proved to be building a better place for students to learn.
Plummer said, "They're going to have room to walk. To walk the halls and not bump into each other."
Lipscomb added, "I just think the students are going to want to learn in this environment."
The new expansion is just phase 1, the overall building project is scheduled to be finished in 2015.
