This is the tale for everyone in northwest Arkansas trying to beat the heat. Keith Kaderly, with Ozarks Electric, has tons of tips for homeowners looking to save a buck on their bills.

"The good news is there are still a lot of things you can do with your house that you can do right now, and will pay back by the end of the summer," Kaderly said. "Don't wait. Every day you wait is another dollar you're wasting to the outside air."

The folks at Ozarks Electric will perform an energy audit for $100 and show you where you are wasting money.

Using infrared cameras, Kaderly and his team can show you where outside heat is entering your home.

Kaderly says duct work is a major source of energy loss. A strip of special mastic tape can seal any leaks. Regular home maintenance could be the best way to save.

Kaderly says change your air filters once a month. Get the cheap ones. They allow more air to flow. If you haven't already, replace those old bulbs with new energy efficient ones. They not only use less energy but they don't burn as hot either.

If all of this sounds like too much work, energy efficiency is just a click away. You can enter to win a home efficiency makeover at http://www.aecc.com/energy-efficiency/energy-efficiency-makeover/
