A scam has made it`s way to the Bentonville Police Department, but not in the way some might imagine. Officer Chris Moffit is selling his truck in the classifieds of the Benton County Daily Record. After receiving a call about the ad, he was intrigued and followed up with the potential buyer by e-mail. An e-mail stated the buyer would send the officer a cashier`s check for more than the amount he was asking for the truck and then asked the officer to return the difference to an unnamed shipping company.
