FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Sophomore BJ Young of the University of Arkansas basketball team was named a preseason third-team All-American by Sporting News Magazine it was announced this week.
Young is the first Razorback to earn preseason All-America honors since Ronnie Brewer who was appointed to two preseason teams prior to the 2005-06 season.  As a true freshman, he led the Southeastern Conference in scoring for a first-year player at 15.3 points per game and shot better than 50 percent from the floor.  Never shying away from the spotlight, Young averaged 20.0 points, 3.5 rebounds and shot 52.4 percent against ranked teams in 2011-12.

Joining Young on the preseason third-team are Jamaal Franklin of San Diego State, Peyton Siva of Louisville, Trey Burke of Michigan and Adonis Thomas of Memphis.  Other preseason All-Americans named by Sporting News include Cody Zeller (Indiana-1st team), Doug McDermott (Creighton-1st team), James Michael McAdoo (North Carolina-1st team), Deshaun Thomas (Ohio State-1st team), C.J.
