University of Arkansas sophomore defensive end Trey Flowers was named SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week, it was announced Monday.

Flowers set single-game career highs with 3.5 sacks, 3.5 tackles for loss and two quarterback hurries while tying his career high with five tackles in Arkansas' 24-7 win at Auburn. The Huntsville, Ala., native's sack count ranks as the highest single-game total in the SEC this season and is tied for the fourth-most in the NCAA in 2012. Flowers' performance helped the Razorbacks record 8.0 sacks, tied for the most in the SEC this season and second-highest single-game total in the NCAA this year, and 11.0 tackles for loss. The eight sacks were the most for an Arkansas defense since Jan. 1, 2000, in the Cotton Bowl against Texas.

Flowers has 15 tackles, 7.0 for loss with 4.5 sacks, five quarterback hurries and one pass breakup this season. His sacks total ranks fifth in the SEC, and he is tied for sixth in the conference in tackles for loss.

The Razorbacks also forced a season-high five turnovers at Auburn, intercepting three passes and recovering two fumbles, while holding the Tigers to 40 yards rushing. The rushing yards total is the lowest allowed by an SEC defense in a conference game this season, and the five forced turnovers were the most for the Razorbacks since they forced five against Mississippi State in 2007.

Arkansas returns to action Saturday when it hosts Kentucky inside Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium in Fayetteville. The game is set for a 6 p.m. kickoff on FSN.
