Report: John L. Smith to Receive Bulk of Salary After Regular Season

Arkansas Razorbacks Head Coach John L. Smith will receive the bulk of his 10-month salary after the end of the regular season.

According to USAToday.com, Coach Smith arranged to receive $600,000 of his salary after the end of the regular season and into February of 2013.

The USA Today cites public documents they say shows Smith agreed to receive $300,000 of his salary on New Year's Eve of 2012, and the other $300,000 on February 23, 2013, with the other $250,000 coming in monthly payments from the university.

The documents also reportedly show the $600,000 of Smith's contract that doesn't come from the university comes from the Razorback Foundation for TV and radio appearances.

The article also suggests that this deferral of payment could have legal ramifications, if it is determined that the move was made in attempt to keep that money from his creditors.
