Mayor Rob Hulse has released a statement, reacting to reports that a Lincoln police officer is under investigation for some Facebook posts.

According to the mayor, Officer Greg Gunn is not being investigated by the city of Lincoln.

On Monday evening, ha says the Lincoln City Council did go into executive session to address concerns raised by Alderman Laurie Smith. At the end of the Executive Session, the City Council re-convened and took no action.

They did request the City Attorney to review the officer's actions for violations of the City's Personnel Policy, but the city attorney responded that no violations had occurred.

"Mr. Gunn's statements were made in his personal capacity and not in any type of official capacity," said the mayor in a statement, "Arkansas Code Annotated 14-52-109 protects the political free speech rights of a police officer when not acting in an official capacity. The matter ended there."
