By:
Updated: April 17, 2007
As the holidays approach, more and more people will be heading to airports to visit family and friends. With those extra travelers comes headaches in the form of lost luggage. The airline industry spend about 2.5 billion dollars trying to find lost bags and return them to their owners, but there are a few things you can do to make sure your bags make it home with you. First, airport officials say to make sure you make it to the airport at least an hour before your departure time. Secondly, affix a tag on the outside of suitcases that won`t easily come off. You should also put a piece of paper or a business card with your name, address and phone number inside each piece of luggage. Finally, if you discover a bad has been misplaced, never leave the airport without filing a claim first. Most airlines will not honor any claim that is filed after you have left the airport.
