NWA Unemployment Rate Drops to 4.9%

More people in Northwest Arkansas are back on the job.

The NWA unemployment rate has dropped yet again.

According to the newest numbers from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, released on October 30, our area has an unemployment rate of 4.9 percent as of September 2012.

That's a significant drop from this time last year, when unemployment sat at 6.0 percent, and even from August of 2012, when the rate was 5.3 percent.

Northwest Arkansas is also faring better than the rest of the state.

As a whole, Arkansas has an unemployment rate of 6.5 percent.
