Hurricane Sandy's lasting impression on the eastern seaboard, and the rest of the country, will be felt for years.
The number of victims she left behind has skyrocketed.
These are the seven stories you need to know about - before you head out the door Friday.
Four days following superstorm Sandy, the death toll climbed to 88 in the United States and 157 overall.
As the water recedes, more victims are being discovered and that can still multiply as temperatures are forecasted to drop in the water-logged city.
Right now, about 500,000 New York City customers are still without power and are struggling to use transit to get to and from work.
However there is some good news, Broadway theaters reopened Thursday, and organizers vowed to hold the New York City Marathon as scheduled on Sunday.

A Fayetteville woman was desperately trying to help her parents in New York after Sandy severely damaged their home.
Valerie Champagne took to Facebook, asking for firewood to be sent to her folks, who are currently without power in 40-degree temperatures.
She received an instant response from an old grade school friend who lives about 20 miles from her parents.
The friend came through and delivered wood to Valerie's parents, proving social media can be a vital tool in an emergency situation.
The race for the White House was on hold during the storm but it's back in full throttle now.

Four days before the election, polls in crucial battleground states are still indicating the vote will be close but the president has a slight edge.
His advantage?

Among men, Romney is leading the vote from men by 10 points but President Obama is leading the female vote by 13 points.

Hundreds of volunteers in Bella Vista build a playground for the Boys and Girls Club in just one day.
The building blitz includes more than 200 people from Bella Vista, Disney and Kaboom!, an organization dedicated to creating a playground within walking distance of every kid in America.
The project is part of a Disney initiative, partnering with parents to inspire children to lead healthier lifestyles.
The design is actually based on drawings by the children who will use it.

Of course I'm talking about the annual John Brown University Toilet Paper Game.
More than 1,800 golden eagle fans threw thousands of rolls of toilet paper on the floor when senior Abel Galliguez scored the first field goal of the season.
