Voter Supports Benton County Going Wet, But Votes Against It After Repeated Calls

One registered voter, who asks to remain anonymous, was ready to vote "yes" for turning Benton county wet.
"I support being to not have to travel so far and to keep money in Benton county it just makes sense, people are going to drink, they're going to buy alcohol," says the anonymous voter.
But after a few phone calls too many, he changed his mind.
"I had not seen a whole lot of advertising, but I started getting phone calls from a caller I.D. number that said "Arkansas caller,'" says the voter.
He told the caller, who claimed to be a representative of the group "Keep Dollars in Benton County," about his plans to vote "yes".
And then after additional calls, he asked to be taken off the calling list.
"The lady was polite, said, 'Sure, we'll go ahead and remove you, no problem,'" says the voter.
But calls kept coming, leading the voter to ask for a manager.
"I asked him what town in Arkansas he was calling me from, and he stated he was not in Arkansas, he was actually in Arizona," says the voter.
"That just kind of confused me because I thought this was about keeping dollars in Benton county."
Marshall Ney, spokesperson for "Keep Dollars in Benton County," says their campaign has included phone calls aimed only at those who have already shown support for Benton county going wet.
"We have a small group, and we have a handful of consultants who rely on to move our voters to the polls," Ney says. "For setting up the phone calls, for setting up the direct mails for all of the process that we have engaged in."
Causing quite a controversial finish to the wet-dry campaign season in Benton county.
"I think it's a great idea to be able to call the people, but how many times to do you need to call the same person?'" says the voter.
Ney adds: "If anyone has any concerns, call me. I'd be happy to talk to them."
