FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Sophomore BJ Young and junior Marshawn Powell of the University of Arkansas men's basketball team were each named to All-SEC teams by the league coaches it was announced on Friday.

Young, a 6-3 guard, was placed on the first-team while Powell, a 6-7 forward, garnered second-team honors.

The All-SEC nods are the second for both players as the two were named to the first- and second-teams, respectively by the league's media in late October.

Young led the Southeastern Conference in scoring by a freshman a year ago and has been named to several preseason lists.  Along with his All-SEC accolades he has also been named a third-team preseason All-American by Sporting News, the No. 17 impact player in the nation by ESPN, the top player in the SEC by Sports Illustrated, the No. 28 player in the country by CBSSports among others.

Powell's accolades have not been as vast, but understandably so considering that the junior is coming off a year that ended just two games into the season because of a knee injury.  The Newport News, Va., native has been tabbed a second-team All-SEC player by the SEC media, College Sports Madness and Athlon while also being named the No. 9 Inside-Out player in the country by Athlon and one of 10 players who will make a major impact this year by CBS Sports.

The Razorbacks begin the 2012-13 season tonight when they host Sam Houston State at 7 p.m. at Bud Walton Arena.
