Local Gun Sales on the Rise

Firearm sales are on the rise and it's not just deer season that's getting these guns off the shelves.

"General fear having some amendment to the constitution that would reduce the rights of the people to own and bear arms," John Fleming, Owner of THOR Firearms in Rogers.

This fear comes after former Democratic president Bill Clinton put a ban on assault rifles and gun features like limiting the number of rounds a magazine can hold, during his time in office. The ban expired in 2004.

Now after President Obama's reelection, gun lovers are preparing for the worst.

"The fear of loss of that right now probably perpetuates people to take action now."

They say it's not just the right bare arms that's being threatened, but safety.

"Protection is a bigger part of it. Having the gun is one thing but actually more people are concerned about their personal protection. Having the ability to protect themselves and their families," Fleming said.

Is there enough to go around?

"When I go to purchase guns for my distribution channels, most of them are on backorder so it's hard to get them."

Hard to get, but not going anywhere.

"I don't expect it to slow down."

So far President Obama has only extended gun rights. He signed a bill allowing concealed handguns in national parks.
