Online Petition Asks Macy's to "Dump Trump"

Should Macy's "dump Trump?"

An online petition requesting the department store ditch Donald Trump as a spokesperson has gathered hundreds of thousands of signatures.

The petition says the tycoon "engages in especially unpleasant, nasty and despicable behavior" pointing out recent high profile actions by The Donald including his public announcement offering President Obama $5 million to disclose his birth certificate and passport.

The group responsible for the effort posted a statement that addresses Macy's directly, asking, "Donald Trump does not reflect the 'magic of Macy's.' We urge you to sever ties with him. Macy's says it has a strong obligation to be 'socially responsible' and that 'actions speak louder than words.' Indeed. It's time to act."

According to the petition website, once enough signatures have been collected, they will present the petition to Terry J. Lundgren, Chairman of the Board, CEO and President at Macy's Inc.
