Local firefighter recruits are wrapping up a 10-week training program that will come to an end Friday.

Trainees describe the process as a fun, but intense way of learning the trade.

"After the first two weeks, then we start getting into actual firefighting training stuff, and it's a whole lot of fun, " says Corey Austin. "It's a love-hate relationship, a lot of physical, but at the end of the day, you look back, it's just fun."

The program includes various lectures, study sessions, videos and strength and conditioning tests.
