Man Robbed at Gunpoint in Fayetteville, Suspect Arrested

An Alpena man was arrested Wednesday night accused of robbing a man at gunpoint at a Fayetteville car wash.

According to an arrest report, around 5:30 pm police were called to the "Suds" car wash on Martin Luther King Boulevard by the victim who reported a male had robbed him with a rifle and then stole his truck.

An officer later spotted the suspect, identified as 38-year-old Erik D. Olson, on I-540 near Johnson.

The officer pulled Olson over after watching him drive recklessly through heavy traffic. 

After searching him, the officer found the victim's wallet and cell phone in Olson's pockets and retrieved a rifle from the truck.

According to police, Olson held the barrel of the to the back of the victim's head while robbing him then threatened to kill the victim's family.

Police say when Olson also damaged the car wash as he drove away in the victim's truck when a hose from the car wash got tangled in the truck axle and was torn from the bay.

Olson refused to cooperate with police once he was taken to Washington County Jail.

He has been charged with felony aggravated robbery and misdemeanors of DWI, Criminal mischief, terroristic threatening, reckless driving and driving on a suspended license.
