Robert Madison Murphy disclosed the sale in a Monday filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission
Murphy sold 9,049 shares at a weighted average price of $53.55 each, for a total of $484,589. He now owns 622,678 shares directly and 4,596,155 shares indirectly.
A director since 1993, Murphy was chairman of the company from 1994 through 2002. He is a first cousin of Claiborne P. Deming, the company`s president and CEO.
Shares of the company were trading at $53.23 today after closing at $52.92 on Monday.
