Smokers trying to kick the habit may benefit from text messages and apps on their cell phones.
A new study compared quit rates of smokers who were given online and phone call support to those who were sent daily motivational messages and advice through text messages.
After six months, the text group was twice as likely to be smoke-free.
The website somefree.gov has a free text service to send you daily texts, encouraging you to stop smoking.
There are also several smartphone apps to help you quit.
