Several folks in Fayetteville got out of fines for helping others in need.

The Fayetteville Public Library hosted a Food for Fees program. People earned credits by bringing in canned goods and got to knock a few bucks off their late fees.

The library announced Tuesday they collected 3,400 pounds of food, which is a new record for the program.

All the food will be donated to Cooperative Emergency Outreach and Feed Fayetteville, just in time for the holidays.
