A Fayetteville man charged with attempted capital murder against a police officer is expected to go on trial Monday morning. These are the seven stories you need to know about before you head out the door.

Police say Sergio Andrade-Martinez fired several rounds at officers from the balcony of his Bedford Loop Apartment last March during a standoff with officers. It all started when investigators tried pulling the 50-year-old man over near his apartment just blocks away from the University of Arkansas. Police say Andrade-Martinez then drove off, leading them in a chase that ended on Bedford Loop. That's when, according to officers, Andrade-Martinez locked himself in an apartment, before coming out and firing shots at police. One officer, Blake Williamson, was shot in the right leg. Six other officers also exchanged shots with Andrade-Martinez. Those six returned to duty four days later while Officer Williamson was out of action until June.

A man is recovering in the hospital after he was hit by a car in Lowell. It happened around 8:20 pm Sunday. Lowell police say a 2002 Chevy Blazer, driven by Laura Santillan, was heading North on 71B when Carl Faber tried crossing at the Apple Blossom intersection. Police say Santillan was unable to to avoid hitting Faber. He was taken to Northwest Medical Center in Springdale, his condition is unknown.

Many are anxiously waiting to hear Jeff Long announce a new head coach for the Hogs. Just over a week ago, Long told the team he planned to have a coach in place in 10 to 14 days, indicating a new hire would be formally announced by mid-week. The latest name attached to the search is Vanderbilt Head Coach James Franklin. A report from Tennessee columnist Clay Travis says Franklin rejected an offer of more than $5 million a year to come to Arkansas. But sources tell the Razorback Nation that Long is close to finishing out a deal with the next head coach at the University of Arkansas.

The son of the other Razorback leader, basketball coach Mike Anderson is arrested for driving while intoxicated early Sunday morning in Fayetteville. According to a probable cause report, officers pulled Michael Anderson Jr. over after they saw him run a stop sign and change lanes improperly on Wedington Drive. Officers reported there was a strong smell of alcohol coming from the car and they arrested Anderson after he failed a sobriety test. This is Anderson's third DWI arrest.

In Fayetteville, official plans for a new downtown parking deck are expected to be announced this week. A consultant team recommended to the city council that the parking garage be built in the theater lot, which is where Grubs Bar & Grill and the Walton Arts Center employee parking lot currently sit. However, there are two other location options available for the city council to consider. The council is expected to make a decision sometime this week.

The conditions are perfect for controlled burns to quickly get out of hand and Washington County is under a red flag warning to prevent disasters. The Fayetteville Fire Department says the mix of wind speeds and low humidity are the right combination to ignite fires that can quickly get out of control. As the temperatures start to drop, many will be stoking the flames in their fireplaces. Firefighters say you should put the ashes in a metal bucket or water them down.

These unseasonably warm temperatures are putting a damper on a holiday tradition. The Rink at Lawrence Plaza is now closed because it's too warm! Skating season normally runs from now through January 20th, but because of the temperatures, parks and rec will re-open it as soon as they can keep the ice frozen.
