The Meals on Wheels program is organized through Fayetteville’s Senior Activity and Wellness Center.
The Fayetteville Senior Activity Center has been operating and serving seniors in the Northwest Arkansas area since the early 1980′s. In July 2003 the Center moved to its new location on South College.
The Senior Activity Center offers arts and crafts, ceramics, pool, a full library, and a complete fitness room with elipticals, four treadmills, weights, and cardio and Nordic Trac bikes.
In addition to activities, the Senior Activity Center provides nutritious meals to homebound seniors throughout Washington County.
Everything in the center is done with the senior and their special needs kept at the forefront.
The Fayetteville Senior Activity Center’s purpose is to serve seniors, including those who come to the Center and those who receive home delivered meals through the Meals on Wheels program.
The Center strives to engage seniors both physically, mentally, and emotionally by providing activities that are fun, informational and stimulating.
The Senior Center is run by N.W.A.E.D.D. The Northwest Arkansas Economic Development District, Inc., is a private, non-profit corporation which is responsible for coordinating and implementing a comprehensive assortment of social, recreational, educational, physical fitness, and nutritional services made available to seniors 60 and over while promoting self-reliance and independence to achieve a higher standard of life.
The volunteers who deliver meals to our homebound seniors are invaluable as sometimes they are the only contact the senior receives.
