Cooking for Christmas can be a bit stressful. But if you're in a bind, Rick Boone of Rick's Bakery has some advice.

"If you make what you really enjoy and if you enjoy making it, it's going to turn out great. As long as you have sugar, sale, butter, flower, your staple things. If you've got any kind of apple, cherry, powdered sugar, that's really all you need," said Boone. "You can make so many things out of that, you can make cookie dough, cookies, dough, coffee cakes."

One way to avoid craziness in the kitchen on Christmas morning? Freeze food ahead of time

"We make a lot of quiche on Christmas morning. I make it ahead of time, put it in the fridge and then bake it that morning. I want to keep it as easy as I can on Christmas morning because I want to enjoy some of the Christmas morning, not be tied up while everyone else is enjoying," said Boone.

But make sure not to get too complicated.

"People get grander visions that they're going to create this masterpiece. The day before Christmas, you better keep it simple or you're going to be in the kitchen all night," said Boone.
