Students Sell Homemade Goods at Christmas Bazaar

Students in Rogers sold homemade crafts at a Christmas Bazaar!

Families and friends showed their support at the Rogers Annex where students crafted everything from ornaments, to birdhouses, to cupcakes and crepes!  But it was more than a festive function, the students were selling their goods and earning a profit.

Linda Haley, Director of Counseling with the Rogers School District, said the program was also an educational tool. Students learned about economics, free enterprise, market systems, and how to invest in human capital. Haley was also happy to see the kids stepping out of their comfort zones.

"Our kids that didn't know they could sew learned they can. They're making purses, they're baking, they're doing things they probably would have never done but it stretched them a little bit."

Haley wants the work students are doing now to help springboard them into productive careers, and she hopes the Christmas Bazaar will become an annual event.
