Not Just the Holidays Making for a Big Day at Fed-Ex

The shipping retailer's busiest day of the year was Monday. But it was also the busiest day in the company's history. FedEx estimated it handled 19 million packages, or 200 packages a second on Monday. December 10th, was known as "Green Monday" for all of the money people spend. It's when many online purchases work their way through retailers' systems and hit the mail. UPS and the Postal Service both say their busiest days are still ahead of them.

Fresh off of his role in The Hobbit, the British actor is talking about reprising his role of Magneto in X-Men Days of Future Past. Meanwhile, Professor X, or Patrick Stewart, has also signed on. The two were not included in X-Men First Class, which starred James Mcavoy and Michael Fassbender as younger versions of themselves. So will Magneto and Professor X battle in the next movie? Nobody's talking yet.

The United States is sending crash experts to Mexico to help in the investigation into the plane crash that killed the Latin singer. The National Transportation Safety Board says its investigators will help the Mexican government. The learjet with seven people on board went down Sunday afternoon in a mountainous area in northern Mexico. The Mexican news agency, Notimex, is reporting that the learjet that crashed was 43-years-old. According to NTSB records, the plane suffered substantial damage in a 2005 accident in Texas.

Beyonc
The Grammy-Award-winning singer is teaming up with Pepsi. According to a news release from the soft drink giant, part of the deal involves a new can for the fizzy stuff. It also involves new music, digital promotions and commercial ads. The company says it's excited about the agreement and looking forward to working with Beyonc. The new Pepsi can featuring the singer is expected to debut in Europe next March.

HSBC
The global banking giant will pay a record $1.9 billion to settle U.S. allegations that the bank ignored red flags pointing to money laundering. It's the biggest fine ever against a bank by the U.S. government. A senate report earlier this year claimed that the HSBC Mexico unit shipped $7 billion in cash to its U.S. affiliates. The money is believed to be tied to Mexican drug cartels and banks linked to terrorism. But the nearly $2 billion fine isn't going to cripple HSBC. one analyst says the bank will earn back that much cash in just 41 days.
