Dogs Shot and Killed in Garland County

Two families in Garland County are devastated after someone shot and killed their beloved pets.

Because the two shootings happened on opposite ends of the county, deputies don't think they are related.

But pet owners we talked to say it's not just their pets turning up dead and they're worried.

Now, they've vowing to get justice for their four-legged friends.

"He was so smart," said Jacque Sanders.

Sanders admits pit bulls get a bad rap. But 1-year-old Blue wasn't anything like the stereotype: a cuddler, who was great around kids.

"He wouldn't hurt anybody, you know," Sanders said.

Sometime last week, though, sanders says, someone hurt him.

Blue's resting place is no longer on the bed, but under a cross, his collar draped over it.

"I just know they were holding him by the collar and took a shot at that baby."

Somewhere in their Pearcy neighborhood, someone shot Blue in near the neck. He made it back just to the Sander's driveway.

"I have never seen such animal cruelty in my whole life," said Sanders.

Blue isn't the only one. Sanders says a horse was also recently shot in this area and 30 miles away in Jessieville, Raymond Balisle and his wife April are now very worried for their other pets, after their golden lab Sambo was shot last week.

"All I know is he is gone and all I want is justice, that's all I want," said Balisle.

Both he and Sanders say the people doing this must be caught. They are extremely concerned for the safety of other animals, and even children, in their neighborhoods.

"You never know what's going to be next. One day it's dogs, the next day it could be something else," said Balisle.

Deputies say they are taking these cases very seriously. So far, there have been no arrests though.

The people responsible could face felony animal cruelty charges.
