Commercial Construction Up in Springdale

The city of Springdale is seeing a big increase in commercial construction projects.
Bill Rogers of the Springdale chamber of commerce says the city has seen commercial valuations jump by more than 140 percent over last year.
"We're seeing continued growth in our economy," Rogers says.
The valuations are a measure of current and future construction projects for the year, and Rogers this year the numbers jumped to more than 29 million dollars, compared to less than 12 million during the same period in 2011.
"When you can get that construction element of your economy going, it helps raise all boats across the community and the economy," Rogers says. "You always want to see new construction, but the thing that we continue to preach is the job creation that we have in Springdale."
Rogers says the next step is to focus on building up residential construction.
