A Bentonville middle school student disapeared after school Tuesday, but after 40 frantic minutes, the boy's bus driver spotted the ten-year-old on the side of the road.

"I'd never seen him (that day)" says driver Adam Holiday. "He never got on the bus."

Kelly Hornick's son normally gets home from Bentonville's Ruth Barker Middle School around 3:20.

"Around 3:40 I realized Jeremiah wasn't home," she says. "That's when the frantic calls started."

Hornick's husband rushed to the school, but the boy was nowhere to be found.

The boy was talking with friends and he missed the bus, but instead of  going back to the office he decided to walk home.

"He was going the opposite direction," his mother says.

The Holiday spotted the child, almost at the intersection of Walton and 8th street, more than a mile from the school.

The driver picked him up, and delivered Jeremiah to the Hornick's front door.

"He was in a bad spot, pretty dangerous," Holiday says. "I just felt like I was doing my job... watching out for the safety of the kids."

Hornick is happy Holiday knew her son well enough to recognize him as he passed by.

"They drive a lot of students," she says. "We're glad that it ended well, but Adam, bus number 107, my eternal thanks."
