Shoppers Return to Stores for Day After Christmas Sales

Christmas may be over, But the shopping season isn't done yet. People are out to return all those unwanted or ill-fitting gifts, and retailers are offering deals to draw those shoppers in.
Debbie Allerd's Christmas traditions don't end on December 25th. After the gifts are unwrapped, it's time to weed out the stinkers.
"We see what we like, what fits and then we make a pile," she says. "'This doesn't work for him and this doesn't work for her' for whatever reason and I put my reciepts with it and the next day I go store to store."
David New of J.C. Penney in Rogers says the store is ready to make returns as easy as possible.
"It's almost an all hands on deck day," New says. "Everything is very smooth."
Employees consolidated clearance items for the day after Christmas, hoping to make an exchange instead of an all out refund.
"Everybody can come in see where it's at and be able to use their gift cards that they just picked up for Christmas," New says.
Shoppers are taking the bait, hunting for bargains.
"We've relaxed the last two days," says shopper Renita Williams. "We didn't get out Christmas Eve and saved up our energy for today."
"I think people are out looking for a deal," says shopper Vince Tate. "I think the economy is improving and people are ready to open up their wallets and spend some money."
Although Allard is taking care of business, she wouldn't mind throwing a little back to retailers.
"I'll probably make some purchases today." she says. "I'm all for getting a good deal, just like anybody else."
