Congressman Steve Womack has offered up his condolences to the family of General Norman Schwarzkopf's.  The retired military leader died Thursday age 78 at his home in Tampa.

Womack, a native of Rogers, posted a statement to his Facebook page on Thursday night saying:

"My thoughts are with General Norman Schwarzkopf's family tonight. He was a great American hero who meant a lot to my family; four of my siblings served under his command in the Gulf War, and my dad proudly displays a personal letter from Stormin' Norman in his office! Rest in peace."

Schwarzkopf gained national attention in 1991 when he led Operation Desert Storm, which liberated Kuwait after the Iraqi invasion. Known as "Stormin' Norman," he retired to Florida after serving as commander-in-chief of US Central Command.
