The race is on for the first baby of the New Year and the parents will be rewarded handsomely.

Mercy of Northwest Arkansas is working Huggies to give a year's supply of diapers to the hospital's first newborn of 2013. The baby will also get the traditional handknit cap given to all newborns at Mercy. The gifts will be presented to the parents of the New Year's baby at Mercy of NWA.

So how much money will this save that one lucky 2013 baby?  According to whattoexpect.com, during that first year, little ones go through about 2,500 dirty diapers - at a cost of at least $600 for disposables.
