A popular A-lister swoops in to save a small coffee shop chain and the Navy has some interesting ways to try and convince their sailors to stay off drugs. Here is Friday's edition of "The Pulse".

Grab a fork and get ready to twirl. Friday is National Spaghetti Day! Spaghetti's classic companion is tomato sauce. Your spaghetti fun fact of the day: these two came together after spanish explorers brought tomatoes back from South America.

A vacationing Rex Ryan was spotted and photographed Thursday sporting a tattoo of a woman who appears to be his wife, wearing only a green jersey with Mark Sanchez's No. 6 on it and posing in a way many would say resembles a crouching Tim Tebow. A shirtless Ryan, sunbathing poolside in the Bahamas, quickly left the scene with his wife after being approached by a reporter.

It's McDreamy to the rescue for a Seattle coffee chain. Patrick Dempsey is part of an investment team that had been working to buy a chain called Tully's coffee, possibly saving hundreds of jobs. Thursday night, the Gray's Anatomy star tweeted that he successfully bought the shop.

The U.S. Navy launched a graphic video public service announcement showing some of the potential dangers of using bath salts. The video on the U.S. Navy medicine YouTube channel shows a man snorting bath salts and getting sick a short time later. The later moments of the video show the man assaulting his girlfriend and having hallucinations before he wakes up restrained in a hospital bed.

A new collection of White House photos includes an image of the moment on Dec. 14 when President Obama heard about details of the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary school in Connecticut. A grim-looking Obama leans on a couch as his homeland security adviser tells him of the shooting. According to the caption provided by the White House photographer, "the president later said during a TV interview that this was the worst day of his presidency."
