The gunfire erupted last month on South 16th Street when 34-year-old Gary Nixon allegedly pointed a gun and fired at Carter as Nixon bailed out of a car. Nixon`s been charged with two counts of attempted murder for firing on police. He`s also charged with capital murder in the death of Stewart since it was his actions that allegedly triggered the exchange of gunfire.
