Bentonville Schools Back After Break, Police Still Patrolling

By: Channing Barker
Updated: January 9, 2013
Corporal Guary Morgan with The Bentonville Police Department is just one of 17 extra officers checking in on local schools for added enforcement. The increase isn't just for safety, but also to create structure for school security.

'You will see increased patrols of officers actually getting out and going in and visiting with the school. Just to make sure that nobody out of place is there," said Morgan.

Corporal Morgan thinks the kids enjoy seeing the boys in blue around school.

"I think it's good relationship building just to be with the children and teach them that we are their friends," said Morgan.

Friendly faces, students will be seeing more of - these officers will be seeing around the rest of the year.

"We absolutely hope that we never have another Sandy Hook in the United States. If we can prevent one incident, one child from being harmed, then it's well worth it," said Morgan.
