Wednesday marks a milestone we can all be thankful for: the longest stretch of days without a tornado death.
According to The Weather Channel, January 9th, 2013 clocks 197 straight days - and will go down in recorded history as the longest streak so far.
The last tornado death was reported, on June 24, 2012. There was a death when a tornado from Tropical Storm Debby near Venus, Florida.
Other Notable Tornado Death-Free Streaks
1987: 195 days
1982: 190+ days
What makes this year's streak more surprising is that there were some winter twisters, including a rare Christmas Day outbreak, reported this year during the so-called "second tornado season" - no deaths were recorded.
