Education Week: Arkansas Excels in Classroom

Education in the Natural State gets high grades by Education Week.

In the publication's 2013 "Quality Counts: Code of Conduct", Arkansas ranked fifth with an overall grade of B- which is higher than the national grade of C+. This position is unchanged from last year's ranking and is behind only Maryland, Massachusetts, New York, and Virginia

Education Week gave Arkansas an A for the category of 'transitions and alignment', which tracks the state's policy efforts to coordinate kindergarten through 12th grade education with early learning, post-secondary education and the workforce. Arkansas was second in the nation behind only Georgia in this category.

Arkansas, however, received a C- in the 'chance for success' category and a C for 'school finance'
