Terror in Mali is One Story on Friday's Edition of "The Pulse"

Two men are being called heroes after a school shooting in California and Facebook decides sending an inbox message should cost some serious dough. Here is Friday's edition of "The Pulse".
California School Shooting
A 16-year-old student accused of a shooting at a California high school Thursday was targeting two classmates because he felt he'd been bullied. One 16-year-old boy is in critical condition and the gunman shot at another boy but missed. According to police, the student was kicked out of school just last year for creating a "hit list" of students he wanted to kill. He was allowed back into the school system this year. The teacher in the classroom and the campus counselor are being called heroes for convincing the gunman to put down his weapon until police arrived
Sick Days
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, nearly a thrid of the nation's employees cannot take sick days. While most full time employees get paid sick days, only a fraction of part time workers do. That's raising health risks on everyone as the flu outbreak hits early and hard this year.
Duchess Portrait
The first official portrait of Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, on display at the National Portrait Gallery in London. The Duchess herself attending the unveiling and describes the painting as "amazing". The royal couple is expecting a baby later this year.

France in Mali
France is launching military operations in the African nation of Mali to help the country defeat Al-Qaida linked militants. The move comes a day after Al-Qaida militants seized a key town in the northern part of the country. Al-Qaida linked militants have taken advantage of political instability in Mali to push into northern towns in recent months. France says its operations will last as long as necessary. The US State Department supports the decision.
